ACA Grades Awards Dinnner

Friday the 4th of November saw the annual Grades dinner and awards with speaker Graham Thorpe and Portcullis CC were well represented.

Although there was no guarantee of any silverware we had 12 players (plus Delrick's father-in-law) in attendance, if we weren't the largest group there we weren't far off. Turnout was good with a couple of hundred of Aberdeenshire's finest cricketers looking forwards to booze, banter, food, and hopefully a few laughs from a top England test cricketer.

I doubt if anybody was disappointed.

Portcullis Victorious Again!!

Our first two game double header of the season saw us take on Mannofield for the first time this season at a damp Sheddocksley. It saw the welcome return of club stalwarts Howard Smith and Ranjan Sahoo and a new one off captain as Dave Elrick took the reigns as we managed our resources to cover cup committments on the Sunday.

Super Steward Smashes Second Ton!!

The scorebook will say this game was a draw but that would scarcely do justice to the superlative batting display of new Cullis star Gary Steward who hit a second hundred in as many games.

The toss was decisive on a cloudy day at Countesswells and when we lost and were put in we knew quick runs would be vital against a team well known for their ultra defensive batting style.

Sahoo Strikes Back!

If Superman gains energy from sunlight then todays glorious weather at Duthie Park must have energised Portcullis as we recorded our first league win of the season by beating Mannofield 2nd by three wickets.

'Cullis End Season on High

There were no chants of "Stupid Boy!" around Duthie Park on Saturday as Portcullis resoundingly didn't panic and recorded their sixth win of their season. Recent recruit James Pike, opening the bowling, took his first wickets for the team as Huntly Highlanders were held to a modest score which was chased down with what turned out to be relative ease.

Sahoo Guides Portcullis to Fighting Draw

Portcullis, led by a magnificent batting performance by Ranjan Sahoo (87*), managed a draw in a high scoring game at Sheddocksley against a strong Mannofield side.

Captain Nair won the toss and elected to field. Nair and Alan Dobey opened the bowling for Portcullis with Nair taking the first wicket of M.Zanre for 2. The opening spell was tight and was well supported by Nitin Shetty, the first change bowler, who replaced Nair. Runs was hard to come by and Mannofield were 38 for 1 in first 20 overs.

Mowat Mows Mannofield!

Portcullis's advance on Grade 3 continued to gather pace on Saturday with a resounding victory over Mannofield's second team at Duthie Park. Excellent individual perfromances from Kris Nair, Alex Bryce and new recruit Graham Mowat ensured an 8 wicket victory that keep us firmly in contention for promotion.

Dunecht Demolished!

Portcullis continued their fine early season form with a comprehensive 10 wicket win over a weakened Dunecht side. A five wicket haul from Captain Nair and wickets from Dave Cox skittled the home side for 31 before Cullis openers Alex Bryce and Sam Hill knocked off the runs with ease.
