Perfect Season Continues for Portcullis

We took on Stonewood-Dyce in the first round of the Jonton Cup last Saturday after three straight wins in the grade matches. Stoneywood won the toss and decided to field.

Our openers Krish and Sony batted well on a soft wicket and put on 56 before Krish was caught in the gully. Rahul and Cox was dismissed cheaply before Chetan who scored 16 was bowled. Sony eventually went being stumped for 55. TK had a short spell scoring 16 with 2 fours and a six.

Our opening bowlers Rahul and Chetan started well both taking 2 wickets apiece. Krish and Craig came on with Krish taking 2 wickets. Sony had a spell taking 1 wicket and Rahul came back on taking another 2 wickets. There were 3 catches by TK, Collinson and Tarun. Incidentally there were 17 wides and 11 byes.

All in all it was a good performance. There is still a tendency for some of our batsmen to be a bit gung-ho, and losing their wicket cheaply. If we are to maintain our 100% record we will have to be patient and play ouselves in.

We are in the next round of the cup which is the semi final and we play away.
