Portcullis Still Number One

After all the upheaval this week, this was a good showing by Portcullis who fielded only 9 men - the first time we've been under strength since 2003. A determined team performance in a high scoring game gave us 17 points, enough to keep us top of the grade despite suffering our first loss of the season.Captain Collinson won the toss and put us in to bat. Our opening batsmen Kris Nair and Richard Collinson made a determined start until Richard was bowled for 3. Vishal came in and decided to hit out. He made a quick 49 before being bowled. Andrew Maidment was next and he played some good shots before Kris was adjudged LBW for 15. Dave Cox was next to bat. Andrew scored 47 before being out LBW. Cox scored 21 being cleaned bowled. The tail slightly wagged but it was a good all round performance by the 9 men that played.

Fielding with 9 men was not easy, the ball always seemed to be going where we had no fielders. There were 2 wickets for Vatts, Maidment and Wilson with Kris taking one.

Despite coming at the end of a difficult week for the club, the whole team showed great determination they showed to put on a good target for Huntly to chase, and young Ruari Collinson who played out of his skin.

Elsewhere in the grades, Queens Cross were badly mauled by AGSFP, meaning that despite losing to Huntly, we are still at the top of grade 4.
