Friendly v. Nairn

PCC v. Nairn CC We managed to get 8 players to Nairn for this friendly. The weather was good being sunny all the while we were playing.

We had our ex captain D Bowie playing for us and two others from Nairn to make up the team.

A. Dobey won the toss and put Nairn in to bat. It was agreed that any player who made thirty would walk and any player out for a duck would get a second chance. Bowling woud be 4 overs per man on each side with a maximum of 8 overs.

Adie took a magnificant catch at backward square leg off the bowling of Kris in the first over. Hill then cleaned bowled their No 2 batsman, Hill then took a great catch in covers off the bowling of Elric.k No 3 batsman retired after making 31 runs.Kris, Lewis and Bowie took the other wickets. I think there were two stumpings by Cox although only one is recorded.

Our innings began with two run outs, mix up between Elrick and Cox and Bowie and Kris. Bowie was eventually caught after making 29, Bryce retired on 32. The next top scorer was Adie on 11.

It was was a wonderful day out. The hosts were excellent and the teas were the best i have seen since a long time, all that home cooking.
We donated £30.00 for the teas.

Bowie seems to be enjoying his retirement up north. He has just moved to North Kessock which is about 20 miles from Nairn.

This is the last report for Portcullis this year. It has been a eventful one, with all the upheavel from players that decided to leave, leaving us with a headache. However with the help of S.Hall and D.Elrick we managed to fulfill our fixtures.

There will be an email out saying when the night out will be held. It will also double up for the award of the MVP trophy.
