Portcullis Victorious Again!!

Our first two game double header of the season saw us take on Mannofield for the first time this season at a damp Sheddocksley. It saw the welcome return of club stalwarts Howard Smith and Ranjan Sahoo and a new one off captain as Dave Elrick took the reigns as we managed our resources to cover cup committments on the Sunday.

Super Steward Smashes Second Ton!!

The scorebook will say this game was a draw but that would scarcely do justice to the superlative batting display of new Cullis star Gary Steward who hit a second hundred in as many games.

The toss was decisive on a cloudy day at Countesswells and when we lost and were put in we knew quick runs would be vital against a team well known for their ultra defensive batting style.

Classy Cullis too good for a weakened Ellon 2nds...

Sheddocksley was host to Portcullis’s first cup game of the 2012 season. The sun was hammering down on a much changed wicket from that of two weeks ago which then was almost deemed unplayable. However it was quite the contrary as the wicket proved to offer help to seam and spin.

Portcullis Cricket Club Wants YOU!!!

It’s that time of the year. Winter (hopefully) is finally behind us. Spring is once again in the air. It’s time for Men and Women of all ages to don the whites, dust down the kit bag, oil the bat and do the stretches. It is time to hear willow upon leather, see long sunny days, utter cries of howzat, regale in tales of cricketing derring –do, preferably in a nice environment after the dust has settled and pleasantries exchanged.

Yes folks cricket is back!! Portcullis CC are once again preparing for another season of scintillating cricket and even more stimulating conversation. We’ll probably finish up with mediocre cricket and, at best, laugh but we can all dream!!

As always Portcullis are always on the lookout for new players. We welcome ALL newcomers to our club. Whether you are a seasoned campaigner or someone new to playing the game come along and join us. We are about to embark on another season of adventurous Grade Four Cricket and we would love you to join us.

Practice begins on Wednesday 11th April at Duthie Park at 6pm. Why not come along and make yourself known. We’ll be glad to meet you!

Indoor Practice and AGM

Portcullis Cricket Club will be holding our next indoor practice session at 12pm at Sheddocksley Sports Centre on Sunday 1 April 2012. This will be followed by our Annual General Meeting which is scheduled for 3pm at Inn at the Park. All are most welcome.

Portcullis Man Gates at Duthie Park

In February the Portcullis committee joined an initiative led by the Aberdeenshire Cricket Association to attempt to persuade Aberdeen City Council not to eject cricket from our spiritual home at Duthie Park.

Sahoo Strikes Back!

If Superman gains energy from sunlight then todays glorious weather at Duthie Park must have energised Portcullis as we recorded our first league win of the season by beating Mannofield 2nd by three wickets.

Broomhall or Bust...

A new year, a new captain and a new locale for Portcullis Cricket Club's season opener this year as the club travelled down on mass to Broomhall Cricket Club in Fife.

Portcullis Acquire New Ground

Portcullis CC's long association with the smaller piches on Duthie Park will soon be at an end. As a result of an extremely generous donation from a former player, we have succeeded in securing a site for a new purpose built cricket facility just south of Aberdeen.

We will continue to play at Duthie Park for the 2011 season, but aim to move to our new home during 2012.

Spring Nets are Here!!

Indoor NetsAs spring slowly emerges cricketers across the land are getting their kit bags out of the loft and plotting the seasons glories. At Portcullis we are no different and our first training session of the year is happening soon.
