Record Score But Only a Draw

Portcullis posted their highest total at Huntly today scoring 299 runs for 8 wickets.

Portcullis lost the toss and were put in to bat. Huntly took an early wicket, before Ranjan and Maidment started to score freely. Maidment reached 45 when he tried to smash a six but played on to his stumps, Maidment had 6 fours and 2 sixes in his total. Kris came in and he and Ranjan quickly kept the total going with Kris taking the majority of the bowling. Ranjan was next out being bowled for a very steady 39. Nitin then partnered Kris and he made 27 before being caught. There was two other quick wickets before Kris was bowled for a magnificent 93 scoring 12 fours and 5 sixes.

The Huntly innings started off with the opening batsman being caught by the keeper off Maidment, this followed shortly after with a wicket for Kris, Coxie holding a catch. There was stubborn resistance after this with neither batsmen taking any chances. Nitin and Cox was introduced to the attack, but there was no breakthrough. Kris looking for inspiration introduced the mysterious Adie to the attack and with his 4th bowl he took a wicket. Nitin took two wickets before Kris took the important wicket of the opener who was caught by Maidment who took a great diving catch. Special mention to Nitin who eventually took 4 wickets for 30 runs.

This was another superb effort by Portcullis just falling short of getting maximum points. All the players played their part and with the attitude of the players and the drive of our captain the omens look good for the rest of the season.
